World of Greyhawk Game Log

This is a place where I (the DM) can try to keep track of what's been done. I'm hoping to not include any spoilers, as I intend this to be a place to look back for ideas, events, or just notes. The real work will still happen in that nasty Blue Binder of Campaign Creation +4!! (Just wait till I get another black one! Then it's +5!!)

Session One

(24 Coldeven - 25 Coldeven)

The party meets in the Southern Torlands of the Duchy of Urnst where they meet Natalia and help her scour the Hightower Tor for a gem. They find out about the hamlet of Kharne's Inn and head there after recovering the Ruby.

Party gathered a bit of gold to spend in town (above what was left from starting money) and a map of the area; Met Natalia; Recovered one stone

Session Two

(25 Coldeven - 26 Coldeven)

The party goes to Kharne's Inn, Natalia goes to Celedon, Azura goes to Kelefane, Sir Christoph joins the group.

The party visits the town and meets a few NPC's. They begin gathering information about things going on locally that they may be able to help out with. They discover a few rumors and decide to explore the kobold raids. The search leads the party to Verdivis Tor where long ago, a wizard used the tombs as a lab for his experiments with Transmutation Magics. This activity left a few spots of wild magic in the tomb, and recently Tazex (a kobold warband captain) discovered this and began his own tribe. Tazex had become mutated by exposure to the energies in his "throne room", and taught the other kobolds to use the magical activation points in the various places in the tomb. Not all the kobolds were pleased by Tazex's way of doing things and were anxious to leave (Irdruma and Ydak). The party found the lair and cleansed it of Tazex's tribe.

Session Three

(26 Coldeven -27 Coldeven)

More of the same (see Session Two)

Outcome:
Party all leveled up (to 2nd); Irdruma and a goblin prisoner were let go; Party gets some more gold and goodies; Party returns to Kharne's Inn; A meeting with the Lord Mayor is scheduled for when they get back; Growfest will begin.

Session Four

(28 Coldeven - Growfest Day 2)

The party attends the meeting where they were questioned about their involvement with Jurgend Elmyress, a man that sent them a letter linking them to Natalia and offering them work recovering more gems. Hank got a bit blustery for the setting and the party agreed they should leave the Keep (and the City!!).

The party went through the letter and decided that the second stone needed to be recovered, but are as of yet unsure to whom it should go. They set out for Temple Buerkenfeur (an abandoned temple to Dumathoin) to find the stone. Unfortunately, goblins have moved in and aren't about to let some silly adventurers just take stuff out of their lair!

Hank (the Rogue!) joined the Mage's Guild!; The party has given the Council (see NPC chart at bottom) reason to suspect them of foul play; Party met more town's folk; Party is still in Temple Buerkenfeur at session's end.

Session Five

(Growfest Day 2 - 3 Planting)

The party completes their search of the ruins and decides to leave the Blue Tigers Eye in its place. Still unsure who to trust, they head toward Mountain Cat Temple to meet Natalia where they meet Greyjoy, an elven woman hunting in the hills who leads the party to Natalia. Sir Christoph discovers that Natalia is evil and attacks ferociously. Natalia is killed and the party returns to Kharne's Inn.

When they arrive at the Inn, Farron approaches Dimble to tell him that Ellothwynn has been kidnapped. While Farron isn't positive that she's been forcefully taken, he is concerned for his party member and has to leave for Kelefane, stopping him from checking on her safety himself. Dimble asks the party if they will help and they agree.

Hank, Dimble, and Christoph become 3rd level; Greyjoy joins party (2nd level starting); Natalia is killed; Stone 2 is left in Temple Buerkenfeur; Party starts receiving minor permanent magic items; Dimble agrees to try to find and/or rescue Ellothwynn.

Session Six

(4 Planting - 6 Planting)

The party spends a day preparing for the rescue mission and heads to Tower's Teeth, a circle of stones nearly a day's travel to the north of Kharne's Inn. When they arrive, they find a group of bandits have taken the place as a "home base". They also discover that the circle of stones was once a large tower that was buried with only the battlements remaining above the ground. They head down a trap door into the tower where the bandits have taken up residence. Battling their way through well organized opponents, the party reaches a great hall where they meet Tinuvel, a former student of Ellothwynn's turned "Bandit King" and allied with Clerics of Iuz. A furious battle is fought, but Tinuvel slips away. The party continues downward until they reach the dungeon, where they find Ellothwynn and a couple toughs guarding the cells. They defeat the guards, free Ellothwynn, and then lock the guards who surrendered in her former cell. While Ellothwynn is gathering and donning her gear, Greyjoy kills both prisoners while they are helpless in their cells (-2 Reputation). Flustered by this, the latest in a series of apparently evil acts, and insulting comments about his friend, Dimble smacks Greyjoy. The party decides to spend the night in the Tower waiting to see if Tinuvel returns (which he doesn't) and heads toward Kharne's Inn in the morning.

Ellothwynn is rescued, party meets Tinuvel, Greyjoy reaches 3rd level, party tilting toward evil tendencies, party discovers agents of Iuz in the Duchy of Urnst

Session Seven

(7 Planting - 11 Planting)

The party reached Kharne's Inn with Ellothwynn in tow, and were celebrated as heroes. By the next day, with word getting around that agents of the Old One were nearby, some of the town's folk began to get nervous. Dimble took his leave of the Guardians to adventure on his own terms with people he was less likely to want to hit. Business was taken care of in town, including: Hank making a Lassiter a solid contact; Greyjoy doing the same (but separately); Sir Christoph taking time out to meditate on the new events and receiving wisdom abuot his possible paths; Greyjoy and Sir Christoph being affected by odd dreams; Greyjoy joining the Wizard's Guild; and a meeting with the Council. Lord Kharne said that he was unable to send troops to the Tower's Teeth, as his militia was currently mustered to fight Rary's forces near Knife's Edge Pass, but he would supply a force if the Guardians were to hire one to stay in the Tower. The party decides that hiring mercenaries for Kharne's use was Kharne's problem, and further decided to use to Tower as a base of operations once they hire mercenaries of their own. They headed out toward Seltaren, a large city nearly a week's travel to the north, to begin their search for both mercenaries to hire, and for clues on where Iuz's agents may be hidden.
